HBO is bringing backmost its astir beloved ultra-rich big children fighting for nan family business. I’m talking, of course, astir nan Gemstones.
Danny McBride’s absurdist megachurch drama returns for Season 3 connected June 18, arsenic “The Righteous Gemstones” unveiled nan first trailer for its adjacent installment. The high-octane teaser clip features monster trucks, high-speed racing and nary different than Steve Zahn, who appears to play a well-dressed rival to Jesse, Judy and Kelvin Gemstone (played respectively by McBride, Edi Patterson and Adam DeVine).
John Goodman besides stars arsenic nan Gemstone family patriarch, alongside bid regulars Cassidy Freeman, Tim Baltz, Tony Cavalero and Walton Goggins. The charismatic Season 3 logline from HBO reads, “When nan spoiled Gemstone children yet get their wish to return power of nan Church, they observe activity is harder than they imagined and that their royal manner comes pinch a dense price.”
McBride teased nan caller episodes successful an interview pinch Variety last year, saying Season 3 will research nan “strange Gemstone world” and “dive deeper into who this family is and really they sewage here, gathering immoderate caller characters from nan past to nan present.”
“The Righteous Gemstones” is directed and executive produced by McBride, Jody Hill and David Gordon Green; executive produced by John Carcieri, Jeff Fradley and Brandon James; co-executive produced by Jonathan Watson; produced by David Brightbill; and consulting produced by Kevin Barnett, Patterson and Chris Pappas. “Gemstones” is McBride’s 3rd HBO drama series, pursuing nan baseball-themed “Eastbound & Down” and school-centered “Vice Principals.”
